Our buddy Huck was kind enough to loan us his kennel, so we could transport the five piglets. We went out to a farm on a windy ridge-top this morning and loaded them in the Subaru. This makes the third kind of livestock that car has hauled.
Farmer John had a big grin on his face for the whole ride, despite the smell.
They are settling in to their new home. They have two stalls in the barn with lots of hay bedding. We built a trough for their food and have a tub for water. They were happy to find both - I'm assuming they were happy from all the snorting.
Thanks for reading along with all the farm adventures!
YAY!!!!! Can't wait to see them :)
ReplyDeleteAwww....I don't want to eat my BLT now....no, wait, yes I do :)
ReplyDeleteYou will soon learn to love the fragrance and the piglets. They look pretty happy to be riding to your farm. Their grins are as wide as Farmer John's!
ReplyDeleteTh-Th-Th-Th-Th...That's swell folks!
ReplyDeleteWill you be raising them on conventional feed, non-GMO or organic?
ReplyDeleteTari, at this point we are giving them feed from the local feed store plus scraps from the house. When they are a bit bigger we'll put them out in the pasture/woods to forage but still supplement with feed.
Deletewhat happens if one of those panthers disguised as a cat eats one of the pigs!?
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not sure. So far there hasn't been much pig-cat interaction. Although, Badger seems VERY interested!
Deleteperhaps farmer john would be eating cat bacon to exact some revenge?
