Spring dinner

We finally got to eat salad last night!

I have been so hungry for garden-fresh greens. Now I get to enjoy lots of them. Also, the asparagus is really growing fast. We've been throwing it into pastas and egg dishes regularly.

  1. So jealous of your fresh asparagus! Our farmer's market is only open once a week (and over priced) and the grocery stores are getting theirs from CA. Eating the asparagus the minute you harvest it... oh so good.

  2. Kate, are you ready for a spring visit? You can eat as much asparagus as you want!

  3. A funny tale about your salad greens ... I made a huge plate of them while working on the farm before you and John arrived. I had half the plate down when I noticed a little "odd" bit - a small grub! I had been happily chewing threw lightly washed greens, thinking, hey don't need to scrub them much - they are all organic and a light wash will do - lol on me! Your's look much happier greens without the grubs. That asparagus looks delicious!

  4. Susi- it's good to have a little protein with your greens, right? I'm not sure I've ever eaten a bug with our salads, but I'm sure I've had plenty of "weeds" that don't get picked out either from the garden or during the wash.
